Penigar Named NBDL Player of Month

GREENVILLE, S.C., – Asheville Altitude forward Desmond Penigar has been named the National Basketball Development League's player of the month for regular season games played in April.

The NBDL Rookie of the Year and a first team All-NBDL selection by league coaches, Penigar was also named the player of the month for December. He is the first player in the short history of the league to be named player of the month twice in the same season.

In the final four regular season games of the season, Penigar averaged 28.5 points in just 29.3 minutes per game while helping the Altitude nail down the NBDL regular season championship and its first-ever trip to the postseason. He also averaged 6.3 rebounds, converted 56-percent of his field goal attempts (45-81), 75-percent from the free throw line (12-16) and 55-percent from behind the three-point line (12-22). In four games he turned the ball over just two times.

Also nominated for April player of the month were Ime Udoka of Charleston, Derrick Zimmerman of Columbus, Ernest Brown and Kenny Satterfield of Fayetteville, Damone Brown of Huntsville and Josh Asselin of Roanoke.
