
Penicheiro passes Weatherspoon for WNBA career assist lead

Sacramento Monarchs guard Ticha Penicheiro passed Los Angeles Sparks guard Teresa Weatherspoon for first place on the WNBA's career assist chart Thursday evening. The record-setting assist came on a pass to Lady Grooms with 12:43 to go in the first half of the Monarchs' 60-50 win over the Minnesota Lynx, and gave Sacramento an 11-4 lead. Penicheiro finished with seven assists on the evening, and now has 1,322 assists for her career.
