Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today announced that they have released defenseman Steven Shamanski from his professional tryout agreement (PTO).
Shamanski made his Wilkes-Barre/Scranton debut on Apr. 12 at Portland and would gather his first American Hockey League point two games later with an assist versus Norfolk. The 25-year old, first-year pro from Carberry, Manitoba played in 68 games this season for the ECHL's Elmira Jackals, recording 14 goals, 24 assists and 58 penalty minutes.
Shamanski ranked fourth on the Jackals in points (38) and was third among ECHL defensemen in goals (14). He represented the Jackals at the 2015 ECHL All-Star Game and set a new Elmira single-season record for goals scored by a defenseman.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are in the Calder Cup Playoffs for the 13th consecutive season - the longest active streak in the AHL - and currently await their opponent for the Eastern Conference Semifinal.
Tickets for Penguins Playoff Home Games C and D are available now by calling 570-208-7367 or going online to TicketMaster.com.
