Florida Flame News Release
Pensacola scored four times in the 10th inning en route to a 7-3 victory over the Cats on Friday night at LaGrave Field.
The Pelicans have now won the first three games of this series, dropping the Cats record to 30-16 on the year. Pensacola's record improved to 28-18.
Trailing 3-2 going to the bottom of the ninth, Cats' left-fielder Tony Mota sent the game to extra innings as he tied the game with a solo home run to right, his second of the season.
But the Pelicans responded with four runs in the 10th, highlighted by a Bernard Caston sacrifice fly and a Carlos Mendoza run-scoring single. Pensacola was aided by two Cats defensive miscues in the 10th. Fort Worth commited four errors total in the game.
Terrell Merriman also homered in the game, a two-run first-inning blast giving the Cats and early 2-0 lead. Pensacola got a solo homer in the fourth from Juan Rocha, his third of the series and scored twice in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead.
The Cats try to salvage the final game of the four-game series on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Josh Neitz (1-0) will pitch for the Cats and Jeff Norris (2-1) will toss for the Pelicans.
