PEI Trade Dispersal Draft Pick
June 3, 2011 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
P.E.I. Rocket News Release
In today's draft to disperse players from the former Lewiston Maniacs protected list, the PEI Rocket traded their number nine pick for second and fourth round picks in tomorrow's QMJHL entry draft. The additional picks complement those the Rocket already had in the first, third, two in the sixth and one in each of rounds seven through twelve.
Rocket President, Serge Savard Jr, says team personnel at the draft met for hours Thursday night to discuss the plan and they listened to multiple offers from other teams regarding the pick. In the end, trading for draft picks was the unanimous choice. "We are committed to winning a championship in Charlottetown and tomorrow's draft is going to be the beginning of great things ahead. We didn't feel there would be a player available that fits into our vision of building a contender by the time we would have had the chance to pick today."
Tomorrows draft begins at 10:00 est.
