Peanuts Sweep Redfish And Never Lose A Game This Season In Charlotte County

South Georgia Peanuts News Release
The South Georgia Peanuts, presented by Security Bank, entered Saturday night's game with an 8-0 record at Charlotte Sports Park this season. As the Peanuts and Redfish played for the final time this season in Charlotte County, the Peanuts finished the season with a perfect record in Charlotte County by beating the Redfish 3-1.
South Georgia struck early Saturday night. After Redfish starting pitcher Ricardo Gomez retired the first two batters of the game, the Peanuts put runners at the corners for Jasha Balcom who singled Doc Brooks home. South Georgia then went on to load the bases for Steve Butler who plated two runs with a base hit. All of the runs were un-earned as an error with two outs should have ended the inning for Charlotte County.
Austin Weilep picked up his league-leading ninth win of the season by pitching seven scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Jared Doyle pitched the eighth inning and struck out two while allowing an un-earned run. Ja Jones picked up his fifth save of the season by pitching a scoreless ninth inning.
The Peanuts only were able to pick up five hits on the night. Balcom was the only Peanut to have more than one hit going 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Butler's two RBI was tops on the team for the night.
The Peanuts traveled to Anderson, SC following the ballgame where they will spend Sunday. The Peanuts return to action on Monday morning. First pitch between South Georgia and Anderson is set for 11:05. The game can be heard in South Georgia on "1450 The Fan" and online at southgeorgiapeanuts.com.
