PCL July 4th Attendance Sky Rockets

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Pacific Coast League fans once again proved that baseball is as much a July 4th tradition as picnics and fireworks, as more than 189,000 spectators flocked to PCL parks July 3rd and 4th. The total surpasses last year's attendance for the same two days by more than 3,000 fans.
Eleven teams enjoyed capacity crowds or better, with Colorado Springs setting a new franchise record with 9,302 fans on hand to see the city's only fireworks display. Other highlights included a league-high 24,297 in Omaha, followed by Salt Lake's 16,487, and Nashville's 15,126.
The first July 4th celebration at Fresno's new Grizzlies Stadium was also a success with a crowd of 13,303, while Oklahoma had a dress rehearsal for next week's Triple-A All-Star Game with a sell-out crowd of 13,066. Meanwhile, attendance juggernauts Memphis and Sacramento kept up with the pace with 15,174 and 14,611 fans respectively.
The big July 3rd and 4th follows a June in which average PCL attendance grew by more than 300 fans per game over the averages in the month of May.
