PBL Championship Series Set

Rochester's bid for a third Premier Basketball League championship begins Friday night at the Blue Cross Arena. The Razor-Sharks host game one against the defending PBL champion Lawton-Fort Sill Cavalry. Tip off is 7:35. It is Rochester's fourth straight appearance in the PBL's championship round.

Tickets go on sale Monday. The BCA box office is open from 11:00am until 3:00pm Monday through Thursday, and also on game day Friday from 9:00am. Tickets range in price from 5 to 25 dollars, the same as during the regular season.

These same two teams played for the PBL championship last season. It was a historic battle between two defending league champs. Rochester had won PBL titles in 2008 and 2009. Lawton-Fort Sill was the defending Continental Basketball Association champion.

The RazorSharks won game one of the best of three series in overtime 110-106. The Cavalry came back and won the two games on their home court 95-84 and 126-108 to claim the crown.

The teams arrived at the championship round this season by surviving tough semifinal series. Rochester won game one at home in against Quebec in overtime only after the Kebs missed four straight free throws in the final minute of regulation. Rochester lost game two and won game three Friday night in Quebec City to take the series.

Lawton similarly won game one of its semifinal series in overtime at Halifax. The Rainmen then snapped the Cavalry's 34 game home court win streak to square the series. Halifax led Lawton at the half of game three Friday night before losing 102-92.

Rochester started the season with a 2-6 record and rallied to win ten of its last twelve games to qualify for the postseason. The RazorSharks and Cavalry played four times this season. Lawton-Fort Sill won three times, once in overtime. Overall Rochester is 2-7 against the Cavalry. They are 0-6 in Oklahoma.
