Manchester, New Hampshire: Officials from a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) team, the Sta. Lucia Realtors, have accepted an invitation to attend the Millrats' upcoming open tryout camp on Saturday September 22nd. The officials will include Head Coach Boyat Fernandez and team owner Buddy Encarndo. The team's management is coming to the U.S. to scout for two imports to add to their team this season, and they have brought their native players to scrimmage against Americans.

The Philippine Basketball Association recently modified their rules regarding imports to allow for two foreign players - a point guard under 6'1 and a second player of any height. Last season the league restricted teams to just one import under 6'6. The PBA teams are permitted to offer imports up to $20,000.00 per month.

"We feel that we will attract some of the nation's best players to come to the tryout camp, knowing that they will not only be working out for the Millrats organization, but they have a chance to make an impression on the ownership of an overseas team at the same time," explained Sta. Lucia's Boston area spokesman, Choy Layon.

If you have want it takes to be a professional ballplayer, or you currently play professional basketball, go online to www.manchestermillrats.com and pre-register to attend the Millrats' Open Tryout Camp. Attendees will receive a reversible Millrats jersey, a dvd of their games, a written evaluation, and a Eurobasket update of their participation in the camp. They will also have the opportunity to work out for an overseas team without the expense of traveling overseas!

A select group of players will also be chosen to play for the Millrats' scrimmage team as they play the Sta. Lucia squad on Monday night September 24th at 6:00 p.m. at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

The Millrats are a new entry in the American Basketball Association (ABA), and will play their home games in the 'Fieldhouse' on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH. The season and home opener is set for Sunday November 11, 2007 at 4:35 p.m. versus the Boston United Eagles.
