Louisville Fire News Release
The Louisville Fire Arena Football team will see the return of their all-time leading receiver for the 2006 season. Wide receiver/linebacker Anthony Payton has been assigned to the Fire by the arenafootball2 league office. Payton spent the 2005 season with the Las Vegas Gladiators of the Arena Football League.
"Anthony brings a wealth of arena football experience," said Fire head coach Tommy Johnson. "When he is on the field it will be like having another coach on the field."
Payton holds several Fire career receiving records including receptions (231), yards (3,008) and receiving touchdowns (54). Payton, a former Kentucky Wesleyan receiver, is also the Fire's career leader in all-purpose yards with 3,561 in three season for the Fire (2001-2002, 2004) and the career leader in points with 350 and total touchdowns 58.
The Fire will open their 2006 home schedule on Friday April 14 in Freedom Hall against the Manchester Wolves. Season tickets are on sale now starting at just $80 and can be purchased by calling 502-368-0009 or visiting louisvillefirefootball.com.
