Pauly Blasts Off, Diamonds Take Down Racers 5-2

Kannapolis, N.C. - June 30, 2012 - With Lisa Modglin on base after reaching on an error and one out on the board, Racers second baseman Nicole Pauly blasted her second home run in as many days, giving the Racers an early 2-0 lead to open the first inning against the Carolina Diamonds.

The resilient Diamonds battled back, adding runs in the next four innings to take a 5-2 lead they would not let go of, sealing a victory against the Racers for the second night in a row.

Amanda Locke led the way for Carolina with a 2-for-2 performance at the plate, scoring one run and blasting a two-RBI home run in the game.

Rookie Hillary Bach (1-3, 4.14 ERA) took the circle for the Racers as the starters, throwing 3.0 innings while giving up eight hits and five runs. Fellow rookie Jen Mineau took over pitching duties to start the fourth inning, throwing three solid innings of work while walking three batters, allowing one hit and striking out one. Bach was saddled with the loss in today's contest.

Angel Bunner pitched all seven innings for the Diamonds, allowing just five hits, two runs and three strikeouts in the game.
