Head-to-Head
The Pats and Raiders come together for their second matchup of the weekend. The teams have split the season series so far with the both teams winning on home ice. Morgan Klimchuk leads the Pats with three points in two games against the Raiders. Anthony Bardaro and Mike Winther each have two goals and an assist in the season series. The Pats come in after an wild overtime loss to Spokane while the Raiders had the day off following their win over the Pats Friday. Tonight's game can be heard on 620 CKRM starting with the Press Box Sports Bar Pre-Game Show at 6:35 p.m.
Lead Up: Chiefs Grab Overtime Win Over Pats
Spokane jumped out to two goal lead early in the first, but Morgan Klimchuk would explode for five points as the Pats carried a 5-4 lead into the third period on the strength of Klimchuk's career performance. The Chiefs would tie the game in the third period and then Regina-area product Tyler King scored in overtime to hand Spokane the victory.
Hitting Another Gear
Morgan Klimchuk extended his point streak to eleven games, then went on to have a career night. The Pats star scored twice and added three helpers in a five point night to take the Pats scoring lead. Klimchuk ranks third among first year draft eligible player with 36 points on the season, the same as his total through 67 games last year.
Powerplay Clicking
The Pats powerplay struck on three of its first four opportunities in last night's contest and sits seventh in the WHL with a 22.0% efficiency rating. On home ice, the Blue and White are successful 23.9% of the time, good for fifth in the WHL.
Running the Offence
The Pats have 81 goals through the first 29 games of the season. Morgan Klimchuk and Lane Scheidl have combined for 34 of those goals, 42% of the total.
Who to Watch on Prince Albert
Mike Winther has been on a slow start to the season, but he broke out against the Pats in their last meeting scoring twice for Prince Albert. Top draft prospect defenceman Josh Morrissey has 19 points on the season and uses his speed to open up the Raiders game on the rush.
