Pats Commemorative Jerseys Available in Online Auction

Regina, SK - The Canadian Hockey League in association with the Regina Pats Hockey Club are proud to launch the online auction featuring the specially designed commemorative jerseys worn by the Pats in tonight's opening game of the 2018 Mastercard Memorial Cup against the Hamilton Bulldogs.

The jerseys will be available for online auction at auction.chl.ca beginning Friday May 18 at 10:00 pm closing Monday May 28 at 9:00 pm Eastern.

Designed by the Pats in conjunction with the CHL, the jersey pays tribute to Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, a privately funded regiment that was founded at the outbreak of the First World War. The Pats were named to honour this regiment for their inaugural season in 1917-18 and proudly continue this today, 100 years later.

Proceeds from the auction will go towards supporting the Dominion Command Poppy Trust Fund. All donations to the Poppy Fund are placed in trust to be used for the care and benevolent support of Veterans and their dependents. The Mastercard Memorial Cup Theme Jersey Program was created in 2008 and has cumulatively generated over $185,000 for Veterans.

The Memorial Cup was donated in 1919 by the Ontario Hockey Association as a memorial to those young men and women who had been given their lives in the defence of Canada during World War I. The 2018 edition of the championship in Regina marks the 100th time this prestigious trophy will be presented.

The 2018 Mastercard Memorial Cup is supported by Mastercard and associate sponsors which include CIBC, Cooper Tires, and Real Canadian Superstore.
