
Patriots put out the Flame at home for third win, 105-100

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. â Mike King led all scorers with 22 points and helped the Patriots put out the Florida Flame, 105-100, for their third win of the season at the Crown Coliseum on Sunday night. The Patriots had five players in double figures, including Omar Cook, who had the games only double-double with 13 points and 15 assists.
The teams were all even at 22-22 at the end of the first quarter, but the Patriots had runs of 7-0 and 8-0 to take the lead in the second quarter for good. George Williams and Mike King came off the bench to give the Patriots the boost they needed with 11 points and six points in the quarter, respectively. Fayetteville had their largest lead of the season going into the half at 47-33.
The Flame came roaring back in the third quarter and tied it up with under a minute to go at 66-66. David Young's two free throws gave the Patriots a 71-67 lead going into the fourth. In a game of runs, the Patriots finally put the distance between themselves and the Flame with an 8-0 run led by King in the middle of the fourth quarter.
The Patriots won the battle of two-win teams with their second 100 point game of the season, 105-100. Ernest Brown was one point away from another double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Tang Hamilton had 13 points and George Williams had 11, all in the second quarter.
Hiram Fuller led the scoring for the Flame with 20 points. Carl English had 18 points, Kirk Haston had 17 and Darius Rice added 14.
The Patriots (3-12) travel to take on Columbus (12-1) on the road this Thursday, January 6 at the Columbus Civic Center. Game time is 7 p.m. The Flame finally head back home after a long road trip to take on the Huntsville Flight in a three game homestand starting on Friday, January 7 at 7:30 p.m. For more information, log onto nbdl.com.
