GREENVILLE, S.C., March 10 â Fayetteville Patriots forward Britton Johnsen has signed a 10-day contract with the Orlando Magic, making him the 14th NBDL-to-NBA "Gatorade Callup" this season.
Fourteen Gatorade callups equals the total amount of NBDL-to-NBA promotions for all of last season. There are over four weeks left in the current NBDL season.
Since the NBDL began competition in November 2001, 26 players have received 36 "Gatorade Callups" to play for NBA teams. Johnsen is the third NBDL player to be called up in the last three days, the second from Fayetteville.
The 6-10, 210-pound forward started the 2003-04 season with the Magic, playing in four games (three starts) and averaging 2.8 points and 1.7 rebounds. He was released by Orlando November 16. He played in 34 games (27 starts) for Fayetteville, averaging 31.1 minutes, 14.6 points and 5.9 rebounds.
