
Patriots announce 2004-2005 regular season roster

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Fayetteville Patriots announced their regular season 10-man roster following the release of two players on Thursday. The opening day roster is highlighted by returning point guard Omar Cook, the Patriots number one NBDL draft pick Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje and three international players that include Boumtje-Boumtje (Camaroon), Steve Ross (Canada) and Ousmane Cisse (Mali). Chris Brooks, Greg Davis, Sean Finn, Antwan Jones and David Young have also earned spots on the regular season roster. Players released on Thursday included Virgel Cobbin and Romuald Augustin. Â
Each team must have at least two (2) first-year professional players (rookies) and at least one (1) allocation player on their final 10-man roster. Brooks, Finn, Smith and Young are all rookies for the Patriots. Young also is the Patriots allocated player.  The Patriots will open their 2004-05 National Basketball Development League season this Friday against the Roanoke Dazzle on the road. The Patriots return for their home opener on Saturday, Nov. 20th at the Crown Coliseum with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off against the defending NBDL Champion Asheville Altitude.  Tickets for the Patriots season opener are now available by calling 1-800-4-NBA-TIX or by logging onto ticketmaster.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the Crown Coliseum box office and all Ticketmaster outlets.  The NBDL includes the Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), Florida Flame (Ft. Myers), Huntsville Flight (Ala.), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.), Columbus Riverdragons (Ga.) and Asheville Altitude (N.C.).  The league offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA?s umbrella. In addition to the 28 players, nine former NBDL coaches and five athletic trainers have been called up since the start of the league?s inaugural season in November 2001.  Designed to help grow the sport of basketball both domestically and internationally, the league also offers fun, family entertainment at affordable prices. The NBDL is a source of on-court talent for the NBA?s 30 teams and is a diverse human resources pool for the NBA and its teams by training employees in management, operations, public relations, sales and marketing positions.
