
Paterson and Trafford Named to NASL Team of the Week

OTTAWA, ON - Ottawa Fury FC defender Mason Trafford and midfielder Nicki Paterson have named to the NASL Team of the Week, the League announced Wednesday, thanks to their respective roles in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Indy Eleven in front of the largest crowd of the season (5245) at TD Place. The victory earned Fury FC a vital three points that saw them climb the NASL standings where they currently sit tied with Edmonton and Atlanta for sixth. Saturday's win ended the Fury FC scoring drought, but extended the clubs shutout streak to over 250 minutes.
Defender Mason Trafford has made the most of his insertion into the line-up over the past two matches. After impressing in his season debut against Tampa on May 9, the BC native put in another solid performance against the Indy Eleven who were limited to just two shots on target. Trafford also proved to be a threat on set pieces and came close to scoring for Ottawa in the first half.
Midfielder Nicki Paterson has had a solid start to the 2015 season. After missing significant time to injury in the club's inaugurual season, Paterson has already equaled his scoring total from 2014 after he netted his second goal of the season two minutes from time to give Fury FC a thrilling 1-0 win. Paterson's goal not only broad the lively TD Place crowd to their feet, but he, along with his teammates, leaped into Section W to celebrate with the fans.
