February 4, 2021 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Florida Tropics SC News Release
LAKELAND, Fla - The Captain Victor Parreiras continues to re-write the Major Arena Soccer League Florida Tropics' record book.
One of the four original Tropics left from the team's inaugural 2016-17 season, his three-goal performance in St. Louis last weekend now makes him the leading goal scorer in team history with 70. He eclipsed his friend and former teammate Ricardo Diegues who scored 69 goals in his three-year stint with Florida.
Late last season, Parreiras became the team's all time leading scorer. He now has 124 points in his time with the Tropics (70 goals, 54 assists) to easily outdistance Diegues who is second on the list with 98 career points.
Parreiras was named to the All MASL Team for Weed Five after the Tropics - the MASL's defending Eastern Conference champions, split two games in St. Louis next weekend.
The Tropics, 6-1 opened the 2021 MASL season with six straight wins - a team-record for best start ever - and also had an eight-game win streak overall heading into their January 31 match against St. Louis, which the Ambush won 8-4. Despite its first setback of the season, Florida remains in first place atop the MASL 2021 standings.
The Tropics will be off until the Sidekicks host Florida on Feb. 12, before the Tropics return home to meet Tacoma (Feb. 18), San Diego (Feb. 19) and Ontario (Feb 21) as the RP Funding Center hosts six MASL games in four days,.
The league is announcing schedules only a month at a time because of the pandemic restrictions, but the final games of the regular season will be played by April 18.
Single game tickets are available through the team's Facebook page (click on the event link), or by calling 863-240-0101. Tickets will also be available gameday at the RP Funding Center box office. The team and arena have devised a socially distanced seating plan that can accommodate approximately 1,500 fans per game. Facial coverings will be required for those in attendance.
