Philadelphia KiXX News Release

Philadelphia, PA, January 9, 2008 - The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that Peter Pappas has won Goalkeeper-of-the-Week while player/coach Don D'Ambra has won Offensive Player-of-the-Week for the seven-day period ending January 6. Pappas has won the award for the third time this season, coming on the heels of the first KiXX shut out in four years against the Baltimore Blast on January 5. D'Ambra earned the honor after a four-goal performance on New Year's Eve against the Orlando Sharks.

A native of Toronto, Ontario, Pappas anchored the KiXX defense during a rare three-game week, which the KiXX won two games. The Philadelphia University graduate stopped 12 of the 16 shots he faced during D'Ambra's four-goal game in the KiXX December 31 victory, 12-8 over Orlando. Despite a 12-10 loss to the Milwaukee Wave on January 4, Pappas returned with a stellar performance against the Blast at home on January 5, stopping all 14 shots he faced. The shut out was the first in the 15-year history of the Blast. With Pappas in goal, the KiXX currently yield a 9.6 points per game against average, third in the MISL. The seven-time All-Star and eight-time All-League selection ranks first among all MISL netminders in several categories including minutes played (756:36), shots faced (215), and saves (163). The reigning Goalkeeper-of-the-Year ranks third in the League with a 8.72 points against average and first with a .758 saves percentage.

D'Ambra recorded four goals and an assist for a season high nine-points in the KiXX 12-8 win over Orlando on December 31. D'Ambra added an assist in the loss to Milwaukee on January 4, and overall blocked four shots and contributed 10 points during the week. The honor is the ninth of D'Ambra's 14-year career. At the KiXX January 5 home game, D'Ambra was awarded the KiXX Player-of-the-Month award after recording 16 points in five games. The Philadelphia native is just 15 points away from becoming the 15th player in MISL history with 1,000 career points. The KiXX player/coach currently leads the club with 29 points.

Philadelphia will host the Orlando Sharks on January 12 at the Wachovia Spectrum. "Team Photo Night" will kick off at 7:05pm, and all fans in attendance will receive a 2007-08 Philadelphia KiXX Team Photo. All players will be on hand following the game to sign autographs.

Philadelphia KiXX season tickets and 6-PaXX mini-plans are on sale now by calling the club's ticket office at 1-888-888-KiXX (5499). Season ticket holders will receive replica championship rings, as well as invitations to KiXX events like the Meet the Team Party and Meet the Team Luncheon.
