(Rochester, NY)... Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has recalled forward Scott Timmins from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. Timmins will join the Panthers today and can potentially make his National Hockey League debut later this evening as Florida visits the Toronto Maple Leafs. Faceoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at the Air Canada Centre.

Timmins receives his first-ever call-up to the big club after scoring 10 goals and 12 assists for 22 points in 44 games with the Amerks this season. A 21-year-old native of Hamilton, Ontario, Timmins currently leads all team rookies in scoring and is sixth overall among Rochester's top point-getters.

Prior to turning pro, the 5-foot-11, 191-pound forward played four seasons (2006-10) of major junior in the Ontario Hockey League, recording 121 points (62+59) in 201 career games with the Kitchener Rangers and Windsor Spitfires. Originally a sixth-round selection (165th overall) of the Panthers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Timmins won back-to-back Memorial Cups during his time in the OHL, one with Kitchener in 2007-08 and again with Windsor in 2008-09.

The Amerks go for their fourth straight win on Saturday, February 5th as the Toronto Marlies make their way over the border for a 7:35 p.m. North Division matchup at The Blue Cross Arena. The contest will be the first for both teams since returning from the 2011 AHL All-Star break and can be heard live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk. Fans can also tune in for all the live action on Time Warner Cable SportsNet Channel 26.
