Recently Signed Forward Recognized for Goal and Assist in Win Over Wilmington, Healey and Marshall Named to Team of the Week
June 16th 2009 - Baltimore MD - Crystal Palace Baltimore striker Machel Millwood has been named USL2 Player of the Week on the back of his goal and assist in the 2-1 defeat of Wilmington on Saturday night. The goal was the first in a Palace uniform for the Jamaican striker since being signed by Baltimore on May 28th.
"It's always an honor when you get recognized by the league, or by your team-mates or by the coaches," remarked Millwood. "It's good to know that, as long as work hard, you can be rewarded. But you can't do much without your team so I think everyone will be happy to know that someone on the club has received this type of recognition." Midfielder Pat Healey and center-back Andrew Marshall joined Millwood on the USL2 Team of the Week for their contributions to the well- deserved victory after a worrying, barren spell of five league games without a win. Baltimore currently sits in fourth spot in the league standings, four points behind leaders Harrisburg but having played three games fewer than the City Islanders.
Palace will be looking to Millwood to keep getting his name on the scoresheet as the team aims to win the bulk of its remaining fixtures to ensure a playoff spot.
Palace's next game sees them make the short flight to Bermuda to face the last-placed Hogges at the National Stadium on Friday June 19th.
