DANBURY, CT (April 20): The Danbury Westerners, the longest tenured team in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, are proud to announce the signing of left-handed pitcher Lake Dabney and catcher Jack Klages for the 2015 season. Both Dabney and Klages play for the Missouri Tigers.

Lake Dabney is a native of Driftwood, Texas who is a freshman majoring in Business Management at Missouri University. The 6'7" left-hander reaches 88 miles per hour with his fastball and will bring great command with him to Danbury. Currently a freshman pitching for the Tigers, Dabney has proven this season that he can pitch at a high level. As of April 20th, Dabney has come out of the bullpen to pitch 13 innings in ten games. The left-hander has maintained his control in the Southeastern Conference as he has only walked four batters in those 13 innings. He has also allowed only one earned run this season contributing to his ERA of 0.69. Hitters have faced Dabney 45 times this season and they have only reached based on those four walks as well as eight hits, good for a .178 batting average against him.

Missouri Head Coach Tim Jamieson has appreciated Dabney's command for the Tigers this season. "Lake is a big, physical, projectable left-hander whose ceiling is unlimited. He commands the strike zone with all his pitches," said Jamieson.

Jack Klages is a sophomore catcher, originally from St. Louis, MO. Klages bats left handed, throws right handed, and shows a strong, accurate arm. Klages has impressive bat speed with a compact swing that translates into well-struck line drives into all fields. This season Klages has appeared in 18 games, with a .286 batting average and a .475 slugging percentage. He also boasts a perfect fielding percentage, handling all 120 chances (103 putouts, 17 assists) without an error. Last season Klages appeared in 16 games, starting seven, and managed a .333 on-base percentage in 36 plate appearances. As a senior in high school, Klages was the No.11 overall recruit in the state of Missouri by MaxPreps.

Paul Schaffer, Danbury Westerners President, said, "The Westerners have developed a very good relationship with the University of Missouri, with several former Westerners playing professionally after their Mizzou collegiate career ends. Lake Dabney and Jack Klages appear to be two more ballplayers who fit this mold, and fans will be excited to see these ballplayers perform in Danbury this summer."
