
Pair of former Hurricanes highlight group of strong talent signed by Morays

Miami Morays News Release
With 209 hopeful athletes turning out for Morays first tryout camp, Head Coach Larry Little and the staff had their work cut out for them as they evaluated the assemblage of talented players displaying their football prowess.
After the seven hour camp, the Morays added 27 talented players who will compete for the coveted final roster spots during February training camp.
Some of the notable signings from the Jan 18th tryout camp are as follows:
Jocelyn Borgella, DB, 5'11, 191
Coming out of Miami Edison Senior High School, Borgella attended the University of Cincinnati ending up after four seasons as their all-time interception leader with 12. Borgella was selected in the sixth round of the 1994 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions, where he played for three seasons before signing with the Cincinnati Bengals. He also played in the Canadian Football League with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, BC Lions, and the Hamilton Tiger Cats.
Michael Bradley, OL, 6'7, 352
A massive lineman out of North Miami Senior High, Bradley went on to play four years at Bethune Cookman, earning 2nd Team All-MEAC honors in 1995. After graduation in 1999, Bradley made his way into the Arena Football 2 league signing with the Augusta Stallions in 2000. In 2001, Bradley played in 16 games with the Florida Firecats and earned one of six "franchise player" distinctions for the 2002 season, when he started in all16 games. In 2003, Bradley played in eight games with the Columbus Wardogs.
Daniel Hernandez, DL, 6'3, 275
A varsity player for four years at Miami Sunset High, Daniel led the team in sacks and tackles, earning 2nd team All-Dade and All-Star achievements. Hernandez went onto become a starter and team captain for two seasons at New Mexico Military Institute. Hernandez finished by playing in the 2000 and 2001 season as the captain and starter for the FAU Owls, leading the team in tackles and sacks in that time.
Antwon Robinson, DB, 5'8, 175
Another Moray player who attended Bethune Cookman College, Robinson came out of Miami Killian Senior High and comes to the Morays with extensive Arena Football 2 experience. In 2001, Robinson played eight games with the Florida Firecats as a defensive specialist, 13 games in 2002 with Norfolk, 10 games in 2003 with the Macon Knights, and in 2004 played in 15 games with the Cape Fear. With the Cape Fear Wildcats, Robinson had 33 tackles, 23 passes knocked down, and five interceptions.
Arpedge Rolle, DL, 6'1, 270
A product of Miami Central Sr. High where he was named as a Prep All-American, Rolle played for the Florida Gators. Rolle played in 32 games over four seasons and registered 38 tackles and 10 "Big Plays" which consisted of one QB sack, two tackles behind the line of scrimmage, and one forced hurry. Rolle also played in the 2001 Sugar Bowl and 2002 Orange Bowl. He also was a member of the nationally-ranked 2001 Gators Track and Field Team as a shot putter.
Patrick Rouzard, WR, 6'3, 185
A product of Miami Beach Senior High where he lettered all four years and was named to the All-Dade County team, Patrick Rouzard went on to play at Sierra College and Northern Michigan University for two seasons. At Sierra College, Patrick was a first team all-conference selection. In one season at NMU, Patrick was second on the team in receptions (64) and had two touchdowns. Total stats for two seasons are 109 receptions for 1111 yards (10.2 yards per catch) and eight touchdowns.
Ethenic Sands, WR, 5'11, 183
As the quarterback of the two-time defending Class 6A Carol City Chiefs, where he compiled a record of 29-1, Sands chose to stay in his hometown to play for the Miami Hurricanes. Spending two seasons as the backup to Ken Dorsey, Sands was eventually converted to a wide receiver spot in 2001. In four seasons with the Hurricanes, where he was noted for his reliability and "team-first" attitude, Sands caught 51 passes for 735 yards and six touchdowns, as well as serving as the primary punt returner. After graduation, Sands joined the Arena Football 2 Florida Firecats for three games in the 2004 season, catching three balls for 20 yards and one touchdown. The Firecats went on to win the AF2 Championship.
Alcede Surtain, QB, 5'10, 205
Alcede Surtain attended Alabama State University and in 1995, he has the distinction of being the first player in the Southwest Athletic Conference history and second ever in Div 1-AA history to rush and pass for 1000 yards in a single season (1024 rushing, 1224 passing) In 1995 Surtain was Voted All SWAC and was the "scoring champ" with the most touchdowns with 21. Brother Patrick is a starter for the Miami Dolphins.
Maurice Sikes, DB, 5'11, 210
Like Ethenic Sands, Sikes was a local player who decided to stay in his home town to excel at the college level. Sikes attended Monsignor Pace High School where he received countless accolades and rankings for his strong play, and continued that at the University of Miami as a Strong Safety. Was a contributing member of the 2001 National Championship winning Hurricanes. In his junior year in 2002, Sikes was named a starter and earned first-team Big East honors, when he had 80 tackles and returned two interceptions for touchdowns. In his senior year with the Canes, Sikes had two interceptions and was tied for fifth on the team with 51 tackles, three for a loss of yards.
Derrick Vickers, QB, 6'0, 205
Coming out of Monsignor Edward Pace High where he lettered in Track and Football and earned first team All-Dade County honors, Vickers chose Central Michigan University where he played Quarterback for four years. Noted for his strong arm and ability to scramble, Vickers earned starts in 31 of 40 games he played in and ended up as one of the top QB's in CMU history. Vickers tied in total offense (5,747), 2nd in passes attempted (937), 2nd in passes completed (492), 3rd in TD passes (34), 3rd in yards passing (5388). Vicker's other career numbers are 52.5 completion percentage and a 134.7 YPG average. Vicker's Brother Maurice is Sikes and his stepbrother is Willis McGahee.
Michael Ziccardi, LB, 6'0, 215
A product of Broward football powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders, winning the state Class 4A Championship during his senior year, Ziccardi went on to attend the University of Connecticut for the 1999 and 2000 seasons, playing 10 games with 36 tackles. After two seasons, Ziccardi transferred to UMass-Amherst where he started in 22 of 23 games at the outside linebacker position. In his senior year in 2002, Ziccardi led the Minutemen with 10 sacks which placed him sixth all-time in UMass history. In 73 games total over two seasons, Ziccardi had 12 sacks, 118 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, and three interceptions total. He was named All-Atlantic 10 Selection in 2002 and 2003 and attended the Calgary Stampeders camp before signing with the Morays.
Adrian Zullo, WR, 5'7, 155
The ultra-fast Zullo was a teammate of Mike Ziccardi at St. Thomas Aquinas, where he received honors as a wide receiver, kickoff returner, and state track competions. Zullo was named MVP in the Division 5 title game. Zullo went on to become a three year starter in 26 games as a wide receiver and kick returner for the UMass Minutemen. After 32 games, he ended up as the all-time leader in career receptions (135), career receiving yards (2,130), and career touchdown receptions (23), as well as ranking second all-time in career receiving yards per game (66.6), fifth in career touchdowns scored (24), sixth in career all-purpose yards per game (101.9), seventh in career points scored (144), and career kickoff return yards (891). He also was a member of the UMass track team.
The Morays are holding another set of open tryouts in Savannah on January 8th and will be announcing shortly the dates for another set of tryouts to be held in Miami.
The Miami Morays will play in the National Indoor Football League, entering its fifth season with 28 teams located across the United States. The NIFL provides players with an opportunity to develop their skills and continue their careers in professional football.
Florida will be home to four new NIFL teams located in Lakeland, Kissimmee, Daytona Beach and Miami, providing natural geographical rivalries, as well as draw from the vast pool of football talent available in the state.
