July 3, 2022 - Pioneer League (PL)
Missoula PaddleHeads News Release
Boise, ID - It was a frustrating night offensively for the Missoula PaddleHeads through a large portion of the night Saturday in game 1 of a 3 game set opposite the Boise Hawks at Memorial Stadium. The PaddleHeads attack would be held to just 1 run through 8 frames and would go into the top of the ninth trailing 2-1. With their backs against the wall, Missoula's offense would come through when they needed it the most.
Kevin Whatley would immediately rake a double down the line to kick off the ninth to get the PaddleHeads off on the right foot. Cameron Thompson would then tie the game with a single to left to score Whatley. With Thompson at first, Jayson Newman would then send a ground ball past the bag at third for a double. Thompson would come all the way around from first on the play to give Missoula their first lead of the night. Newman would then be up to the task on the mound in the ninth earning his fifth save of the season to give Missoula a 3-2 win.
