Packers Star Gilbert Brown Named Head Coach of Bonecrushers

October 23, 2007 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) - Milwaukee Bonecrushers News Release

Milwaukee, WI - Bonecrushers general manager Chris Kokalis announced this morning that the team has signed former Green Bay Packer Gilbert Brown to a three-year contract to serve as the team's head coach.

Kokalis will introduce Brown as the team's head coach at 2:30 pm this afternoon during a news conference being held at Milwaukee's Intercontinental Hotel.

Brown played 10 seasons in the NFL, all with the Green Bay Packers. He was an integral part of the Packer's two Super Bowl runs in the 1996-97 and 1997-98 seasons. Anchoring the defensive line, he totaled 60 tackles and 7 sacks during his career.

Though this will be Brown's first stint in professional coaching, he is very familiar with the indoor game. His brother, Kyle Moore-Brown, is entering his 14th season in the Arena Football League, where he currently plays for John Elway's Colorado Crush.

"This is a great day for the Bonecrushers," said Kokalis. "We're very excited that Gilbert has accepted the role of head coach. His experience, passion for the game and charisma make him a natural leader for this team."

Michael Tumbleson and Eliseo Ramirez will continue in their coaching roles with the Bonecrushers.

Auto racing fans throughout southeastern Wisconsin will recognize Brown through his association with the Milwaukee Mile - the oldest, continually operating racetrack in America and home to CART, ASA and NASCAR series races. He is also a philanthropist, helping underprivileged children through The Gilbert Brown Foundation.

Details of Brown's contract have not been released.

The Milwaukee Bonecrushers are a member of the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL), a 12-team league based in Canton, Ohio. The team will kick off its inaugural season in March 2008. For more information on the team, visit www.mkebonecrushers.com or call (414) 755-2410.
