San Antonio Scorpions News Release
San Antonio, TX (July 16, 2012) - San Antonio Scorpions forward Pablo Campos, who scored both goals in San Antonio's 2-2 draw against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers on July 14, has been named North American Soccer League Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
With the Scorpions trailing 1-0 heading into the second half, Campos scored to tie the game in 58th minute, beating Strikers goalkeeper Matt Glaeser to a pass into the box and then put a shot past him.
Then in stoppage time, with the Scorpions trailing again, Campos scored again to tie the game and help San Antonio earn a point to regain sole possession of first place in the NASL standings.
The Brazilian forward is now the league leader in goals (10) and points (22).
"His persistency to score and impact a match is the best I've seen in a player," Scorpions Head Coach Tim Hankinson said. "His goals just come from great creativity and determined effort."
Campos joined the Scorpions prior to this season and is on pace to pass his 12-goal total from his 2011 season with the Carolina Railhawks.
The Scorpions will face the Strikers again this Saturday, July 21 in the third meeting between the two clubs this season for San Antonio Thunder Flashback Night presented by Liberty Mutual Insurance. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Heroes Stadium.
Fans will be able to purchase tickets at 1976 pricing, starting at $4 for general admission. Fans can purchase tickets prior to gameday online at https://www.sanantonioscorpionstickets.com/vs-Strikers&Tickets or at the STAR Soccer Complex box office.
