Philadelphia Soul News Release
PHILADELPHIA (October 20, 2014) - The Philadelphia Soul concluded another successful open tryout that drew over 125 prospective players to the Philadelphia Eagles' NovaCare Complex in South Philadelphia on Saturday.
"We are pleased with some of the talent we saw Saturday," said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. "Not only did we draw a good number of players but enough quality to invite some players back for a private workout later this year."
The day was also highlighted by those who attended to view the tryout: current Soul Co-Majority Owner, ESPN analyst and former Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback Ron Jaworski, as well as current Soul coaching and football operations staff.
Every season, the Soul have found players that have been invited to training camp. The most notable over the years: Ryan McDaniel, Temple's Sean Scott and Penn State's Jerome Hayes. In two seasons with the Soul, McDaniel racked up 145 receptions for 1,845 yards and 40 touchdowns in 24 games. His standout game came when he had an impressive 13 catches for 137 yards and two-touchdown performance in ArenaBowl XXVI.
The Soul will have another open tryout at Parish Episcopal High School in Dallas, TX on Saturday, November 8 and another Philadelphia-area tryout at the end of January 2015. Registration for the Dallas tryout can be currently done at www.philadelphiasoul.com.
