North Iowa Outlaws News Release
The North Iowa Outlaws opened exhibition play Monday afternoon with a 6-3 victory over the Hampton Roads Jr. Whalers at the Albert Lea City Arena. North Iowa had four players tally a goal and an assist in the contest with a fifth recording a multi-assist game. After only being on the ice for under a week, the victory is hopefully signs that the team is coming together.
North Iowa and the Whalers played to a scoreless first period, but the Outlaws opened the scoring with a three goal scoring barrage in the early parts of the second period. Tyler Romasco (Cleveland, OH) notched the first goal of the contest, knocking home a rebound from a Krystian Dzubinski (Poland) shot. Tyler Jundt (Williston, ND) also tallied the assist. Minutes later, Joe Harcharik (Des Moines, IA) fed Max Mobley (Phoenix, AZ) for a score to give North Iowa a 2-0 lead. Brandon Larson (New Richmond, WI) added the helper on the second score. Off the ensuing face-off, Harcharik made it 3-0 with an unassisted goal to conclude the quick three goal outburst.
At the halfway point in the second period, Outlaws veteran goaltender Robby Moss (St. Louis, MO) left the game with a shutout, stopping 16 shots in 30 minutes of action. With a few minutes left in the second period, Shea Walters (Hibbing, MN) scored off a great feed from Romasco and Dzubinski to make it 4-0.
Ten seconds into the third period, Ross Ring-Jarvi got help from Walters and Brooks DeZellar (Eden Prairie, MN) to make it 5-0 before the Jr. Whalers were able to find the scoreboard. The Outlaws finished off the scoring when DeZellar found the back of the net with help from Ring-Jarvi to make the score 6-1. The Jr. Whalers were able to sneak two more by goalie Austin Maginnis (Mason City, IA), who made 13 saves on 16 shots in 30 minutes of action.
North Iowa finishes up their exhibition schedule this weekend when they travel to Bismarck to take on the Bobcats Friday and Saturday night at 7:05 pm.
