North Iowa Outlaws News Release
(Springfield, IL) The eight-game winless streak for the North Iowa Outlaws' Junior "A" Hockey team is now history. Friday night, the Outlaws traveled to Springfield, and defeated the Jr. Blues, 5-3.
The Outlaws never trailed in the contest, through Springfield rallied three times from one goal deficits, to tie the game. Neither squad scored for more than 36 minutes of game time. Mike Wallgren (Oakdale, MN) broke the ice, with his fifth goal of the year at 16:32, on assists from Alex Breeden (Fort Collins, CO) and Max Mobley (Glendale, AZ). With the score tied, 1-1 entering the final period, the Outlaws busted loose for four goals, including an empty-netter to clinch the win. Patrick Dynan (Maple Plain, MN) recorded his team-leading 19th and 20th goals of the year. Derek Elliott (Des Moines, IA) snapped a 3-3 deadlock with just over six minutes to play, with his first Outlaws' goal, which proved to be the game-winner. Chris Mackay (Missouri City, TX) provided the insurance, with the empty-net score. Steve McLeod (Atikokan, Ontario, Canada) added three assists in the game, while Mackay and Daryl Dee (Garland, TX) each collected an assist. Jay Clark (Baudette, MN) made his first start in goal a strong one for the Outlaws, making 32 saves to earn the win.
The Outlaws, now 11-15-2 on the season, will play Springfield again Saturday night, December 10th, at the Nelson Recreation Center in Springfield, IL. Game time will be 7:05, with live play-by-play coverage in the North Iowa region on Eagle Country, KY102.7 FM.
