North Iowa Outlaws News Release


It was a weekend off for the Outlaws, and time to think about the fast start the team is off to this season. Monday came and it was back to business as the Outlaws prepare for the Springfield Jr. Blues on Friday and Saturday night at the North Iowa Ice Arena.

There is a lot to talk about this week, with the Outlaws out in the community for Halloween, Exciting events coming up, and Milestones on the horizon, so lets get to it.

North Iowa Outlaws Hockey: Nothin' But a Good Time!

The North Iowa Outlaws Congratulate Jeff & Tracie Crouse and Welcome Jacey Cora Crouse into the World. The Outlaws Assistant Coach and his wife gave birth to a healthy baby girl (7 lb, 11 oz) this morning at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.

Outlaws to Help with Lime Creek Halloween Hike

The Cerro Gordo County Conservation Board and Lime Creek Nature Center Foundation are sponsoring their twenty-first annual Halloween Hike on Thursday, October 25 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Lime Creek Nature Center. The theme is Nature's Webs! Groups of hikers will be led through the trails of Lime Creek on a 40-minute hike, encountering various creatures with messages about nature's webs. The North Iowa Outlaws will be there to lead some of the groups, and assist in the event. The hike will not be scary, but will be a fun and educational experience for the whole family. A majority of the hike will be held on the hard-surface Easy Access Trail, but the final segment will occur on a trail inaccessible to wheelchairs and strollers. Refreshments will be served following the hike.

Children up to 10 years old are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and are welcome to participate in a costume contest that will be held in conjunction with the hike. Prizes will be awarded for the winners. Reservations are required. Members of the Lime Creek Nature Center can make reservations starting Monday, October 15, at 8 a.m. Non-member registrations will be taken starting Tuesday, October 16, at 8 a.m. Call 423-5309 to make reservations or for more information.

Outlaws Off this Week; Return to Action on Oct. 19th

The North Iowa Outlaws are off this weekend, but return to action at the North Iowa Ice Arena on Oct 19th when they host the Springfield Jr. Blues. Friday's game is sponsored by the MAKS Meats & Deli Saturday's game sponsored by the River City Beefstro.

Milestone Weekend for Coach Boitz

NIO - Dave Boitz: In his fifth season of coaching in the NAHL North Iowa's Dave Boitz is looking for win number 100 tonight. The Third year head coach of the Outlaws is looking for the mark after spending two years with the expansion Alexandria Blizzard before taking the helm as the Outlaws first and only Head Coach. As the Head Coach with the Outlaws he has won 51 games entering tonight's match-up.

Outlaws Forward on a Streak

NIO - Shea Walters: North Iowa's Shea Walters is one game shy of tying the league's longest goal scoring streak for the 07-08 season. The Hibbing, MN native has scored a goal in the last four games, 5 over the stretch. The longest streak this season is held by Andy Dittus at five games. In addition, his points streak continues to climb and currently is the longest active streak at 6 games. Walters has 11 points over the six game stretch with 5 goals and 6 assists.
