
Outlaws' Skinner Haunts Express

The Southern Minnesota Express traded Dustin Skinner to the Alaska Avalanche at the beginning of the season. Little did they know the veteran forward would be their downfall as the Outlaws newest player scored twice helping North Iowa pick up 5 of a possible 6 points on the weekend with a Sunday victory in Owatonna.
Both teams felt each other out in the opening period, with noone finding the scoreboard but the Outlaws controlling much of the play. North Iowa outshot the Express 11-3 in the opening period and the shooting barage continued in the second with 12 more for North Iowa. In the middle frame the Outlaws got a pair of power plays and cashed in on both with former Express Dustin Skinner tagging his first and second goal as an Outlaw to give North Iowa a 2-0 lead after two periods.
In the third, the Express finally got some shots at Robby Moss and CJ Wilims hammered home a third rebound to pull within one early in the third. As time ticked off the Outlaws had some chances but couldn't put it home and with 1:27 left the Express called their timeout but the Outlaws took advantage and kept goaltender Pederson on the bench and held on for the 2-1 win. Down the stretch Robby Moss was finally tested but made some big saves for the Outlaws, stopping 16 of 17 shots he faced. North Iowa host Alexandria next weekend before heading on the road for a month in Febuary and early March.
