June 24, 2002 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
San Angelo Saints News Release

San Angelo – The San Angelo Outlaws of the Central Hockey League are proud to announce they have re-signed veteran right winger Jeff Cheeseman. Cheeseman, a native of Minden, Ontario, is not considered a veteran by league means, with only 94 regular season professional games played in four seasons, but for his leadership on the ice and what he was able to bring to the Outlaws during the middle of last season. “Cheeseman is a fast and talented player who showed great improvements and good signs of a great goal scorer last season,” said Outlaws Head Coach Brent Scott. “I am excited to have him back on the team!”

Cheeseman began his professional career after playing college hockey for Lake Superior State University, where in 4 years he totaled 25 goals, 14 assists and 108 penalty minutes in 95 games played. After college Cheeseman joined up with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the CHL, where he played 5 games for them during the playoffs. The next season, 2000-2001, Cheeseman played one game with the Cottonmouths before heading to Amarillo. His stint as a Rattler was just as short only playing one game, which he assisted on a goal in, before being released. He was then signed by Corpus where he played the rest of the season and picked up 15 goals, 14 assists and 26 penalty minutes in 46 games. This last season Cheeseman began with the Corpus Christi Ice Rays and after 7 games was released and picked up by the Outlaws. In 39 games played for the Outlaws Cheeseman netted 15 goals and 14 assists, and amassed an impressive 4 penalty minutes. “Cheeseman is everything I want on this team,” stated Scott. “He is young and fast and will be a key asset to our power play as well as a 30 goal scorer.”

With the re-signing of Cheeseman, the Outlaws totals for the upcoming season comes to 6 signed, all returning from last years squad.
