Outlaws Re-Sign Bishop

San Angelo – The San Angelo Outlaws of the Central Hockey League were pleased to announce they have re-signed former Outlaws' center, Jonathan Bishop.

Bishop, a native of Haliburton, Ontario, becomes the Outlaws 7th signing and returning player from last seasons squad. Bishop came to the Outlaws last season during a trade for futures that eventually saw Tyler Quiring's rights go to the New Mexico Scorpions after this last season. "Jonathan is a great signing for us," quoted Outlaws Head Coach Brent Scott. "He could easily be one of the best defensive centermen in this league."

Bishop played for Queen University of the Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union (CIAU) from 1996-2000. In 1996 he posted 24 goals, 9 assists and 8 penalty minutes in 25 games played. The next season in 26 games he scored 13 goals and assisted on 16 others while racking up 24 penalty minutes. In his last season with Queens University he scored 3 goals and 8 assists. In 2000-2001, Bishop went pro with the New Mexico Scorpions of then the Western Professional Hockey League. Wearing a Scorpion sweater Bishop scored 8 goals and 8 assists and tallied 24 penalty minutes in 53 games. This past season Bishop played 52 games for the Outlaws where he scored 8 goals and helped out on 21 more to accumulate 29 points and 39 penalty minutes. "Bishop is a talented player," stated Scott. "He is a young kid who is going to be a star in this league for years to come!"
