North Iowa Outlaws News Release
Mason City (IA) If on your last visit to the North Iowa Ice Arena there didn't appear to be as much elbow room as in the past, it's with good reason. Through the month of October, the North Iowa Outlaws are off to the franchise's best start in attendance averaging 932 fans after five games. That's a total of 4,662 fans who've come through the door this season putting the Outlaws on pace to draw more than 25,000 fans.
"I'd like to think it's because some of the new things we are doing and the increased marketing but in reality 100% of the credit for the increase goes to the community itself" said Outlaws' general manager Steve Strasheim. "Our goal was to have a good start at the gate but this has been beyond our expectations and the community deserves a round of applause."
The average is the best through October in the team's four season history and already includes three home dates of more than 1,000 fans featuring a season-high 1,087 last Friday night. The smallest crowd was 727 on October 10th.
"The Fall is tough for every team in every market because there is high school football and also the weather is still nice enough to entice people outside" added Strasheim. "When a franchise begins to draw in October that's a very good sign its becoming a staple in the community."
