July 31, 2012 - Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL)
Oneonta Outlaws News Release

The Oneonta Outlaws concluded their 2012 home season with an 8-3 win over the Newark Pilots at Damaschke Field on Tuesday evening. The Outlaws continue their battle to maintain a spot for post season play in the PGCBL.

Oneonta's starting pitcher Nathaniel Abel (Virginia) tossed six strong innings allowing two runs off four hits, the runs coming in the third inning with Pilots being aided by two walks and two wild pitches. Abel had nine strike outs picking up the victory.

A wild pitch also played a role in giving the Outlaws their go ahead run in the sixth inning as Zander Wiel (Vanderbilt) scored after leading off with a double to left field. Wiel had two hits and a RBI to accompany his runs. Sutton Whiting (Louisville), Zach Lucas (Louisville) and Cory Hunt (Utah) each had multiple hits to help pace the busy Oneonta offense. Lucas was the overall offensive star with a near cycle (single, double, triple), three RBI and one run.

Line score for the evening was Newark 3 runs, 7 hits and 3 errors and Oneonta 8 runs, 13 hits and one error, in 2:45.

Wednesday is the final day of the regular season and will determine if the Outlaws get to return for at least one more game at Damaschke Field. Scheduling information may be found at the PGCBL website, pgcbl.com.
