The North Iowa Outlaws struggled to take advantage of a big oppurtunity last weekend, only managing one point out of a possible four agianst the Alexandria Blizzard last weekend. North Iowa struggled on Friday night, and dropped the lead late on Saturday night to lose in a shootout.
The Outlaws will look to rebound this weekend with three big divisional games. North Iowa starts the weekend on the road against their Border Rivals from Owatonna. Friday and Saturday night's games are the 12 and 13th of the season. Sunday, the Outlaws come back to Mason City for a match-up with the Blizzard, looking to avenge the losses of the past weekend.

Blizzard Storm into Mason City
Last weekend, the Alexandria Blizzard stormed into the North Iowa Ice Arena, and froze the Outlaws in the process. A relentless attack from the Blizzard downed North Iowa's lack luster effort 3-1. The Blizzard capitalized on a power play chance to open the third period, but the Outlaws responded. North Iowa got a goal from Joe Harcharik, only to see the Blizzard score the eventual game winner and insurance goals 11 seconds apart. The Blizzard out shot North Iowa 24-17, making it four games in which the Blizzard have had the shot advantage.
The North Iowa Outlaws came ready to play in Saturday night's showdown against the Alexandria Blizzard, but the snowmen had a little luck in the end. The Blizzard tallied a late goal with the Dustin Carlson on the bench and the extra attacker on to tie the game, and Jessie Freismuth scored the game winner in the shootout. North Iowa got a power play goal from Trevor Doden in the third to tie that game at one, and Ross Ring-Jarvi gave North Iowa the lead until the final minute when the Blizzard tied the game. Robby Moss turned aside 40 shots on 42 attempts in the loss. North Iowa has a pair of games against the Southern Minnesota Express in Owatonna on Friday and Saturday, before returning home for another shot at the Blizzard on Sunday.
Putting Cancer on Ice
"Putting Cancer On Ice" In a hockey triple header with the Mason City Mohawks High School Hockey Team, the North Iowa Outlaws and Mohawks raised over $1,700 for "Relay for Life" and the American Cancer Society. During all three games, "Relay for Life" members sold food, held a silent auction, passed the helmet, and received money for each goal scored by the high school team. The event organizer, Linda Andrakes, says the event was a huge success.
