BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 5, 2002) – The Bakersfield Blitz staff, coaches and players continue to support the community by making appearances at public events around the city of Bakersfield and the outlying areas.

Recent Appearances:

Wednesday, June 5 – Blitz players Delvin Myles, J'Sharlon Jones and Gerrick Bivins attended an awards assembly at Mt. Vernon Elementary School to pass out awards to students.

Tuesday, June 4 – Blitz player J'Sharlon Jones attended an awards assembly at Besse Owens Intermediate School to hand out awards to students.

Monday, June 3 – Blitz players Gerrick Bivins and J'Sharlon Jones attended the awards assembly at Quailwood Elementary School to talk to students and hand out achievement awards.

Saturday, June 1 – Members of the Bakersfield Blitz Hot Squad were at Kidfest at Yokuts Park.

Friday, May 31 – Blitz player Ryan Sloth appeared on the KGET Channel 17 morning show.

Friday, May 17 – Blitz players appeared on the Brian Long radio show on KGEO 1230 – AM from 4 - 5 pm.

Friday, May 17 – Blitz players Delvin Myles and York Frierson were at the Bakersfield Community Learning Center talking to kids about staying in school.

Thursday, May 16 – Members of the Blitz dance team appeared at the Bakersfield Street Fair from 6:30 – 9:30 pm in downtown Bakersfield.

Thursday, May 16 – Blitz players appeared on the Brian Long radio show on KGEO 1230 – AM from 4 – 5 pm.

Thursday, May 16 – Blitz players were at Endeavour Elementary School to read to 1st and 2nd grade students from 12 – 1 pm.

Upcoming Appearances:

Thursday, June 6 – Head coach James Fuller and members of the team and staff will be at John's Incredible Pizza for the weekly team/media luncheon to discuss the upcoming game against San Diego. Friday, June 7 – Head coach James Fuller will appear on the Brian Long radio show on KGEO 1230-AM from 4-5 pm. Saturday, June 8 – The Bakersfield Blitz will host the San Diego Riptide in a West Division showdown in the Centennial Garden. Kick off is set for 7 pm with the Pepsi pre-game tailgate party beginning at 5 pm. It's also Crusher bobble head doll night, with the first 1,500 kids through the doors receiving a free mascot bobble head.

The Bakersfield Blitz' next home game is Saturday, June 8, against the San Diego Riptide at the Centennial Garden. Kickoff is set for 7 pm with the pre-game tailgate party starting at 5 pm in the plaza in front of the Garden. There will be hamburgers and hotdogs, beer and soda to drink, face painting and a bounce house for kids. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations and the Centennial Garden box office.
