Stockton Thunder News Release
SAN FRANCISCO - Dean Ouellet collected a hat trick and goaltender Thomas Heemskerk made 34 saves to help the San Francisco Bulls send the Stockton Thunder (11-4-1, 23 points) to a 6-3 defeat before 3,389 fans at the Cow Palace on Saturday.
The Thunder had its three game winning streak snapped and lost for only the third time in 13 games.
San Francisco took a 2-1 lead after the first period. Peter Sivak scored off the rush at 3:39 and the Thunder responded when Justin Maylan parked a rebound goal from between the circles with 7:43 left for a 1-1 tie.
The Bulls then capitalized to restore their one goal edge with an outnumbered break. Kris Belan fed Andrew Crescenzi at the left circle, whose wrist shot beat Tyler Bunz to the blocker side with 3:15 remaining in the period.
Back to back goals by Dean Ouellet put the Bulls up 4-1 in the second period, beginning with Ouellet's power play goal at 6:06 and followed by a two on one conversion with 8:32 elapsed which chased Bunz for backup goaltender Cody Reichard.
The Thunder immediately responded and chopped the deficit to two goals when Jesse Fratkin buried a loose puck at the goal mouth with 7:48 left in the period after Ryan Constant's shot was blocked from the left point.
Ouellet buried a rebound off a missed slapshot by Sacha Guimond for a power play goal and the hat trick at the 12:28 mark in the third period, putting San Francisco up 5-2. Eric Hunter's fourth goal of the season - a rebound at the left post - cut the deficit to a pair of goals with 3:27 left, but Jordan Morrison sealed the scoring with an empty net goal with 1:29 remaining in regulation.
