
Ottawa SkyHawks acquire Canadian Big Man Jasonn Hannibal

The Ottawa SkyHawks announced today the acquisition of Jasonn Hannibal (pending FIBA clearance), weighing in at a mean 283 lbs and standing 6'11", he brings with him both NCAA experience playing with the Portland Pilots and some overseas flavor from his time spent in Eastern Europe with the HopsiPolzela basketball team in Slovenia.
During his time spent with the HopsiPolzela, Jasonn averaged 11.5 points and 8 rebounds in 25 minutes through 10 games making him a well-rounded addition to the ever soaring Ottawa SkyHawks.
Technical Director Merrick Palmer said, "We are extremely fortunate to have signed such a quality big man like Jasonn. He is not only a great Canadian talent, but also from our province. It's unique to be able to secure a 6'11 defensive minded player. Jasonn will be an instant force moving forward. We hope to have him cleared by FIBA for our Sunday game against London"
Latest update with Jamal Crook's injury: Guard Jamal Crook was diagnosed with a season-ending injury (right foot fracture) that was sustained last Saturday against the Halifax Rainmen.The necessary clearance could not be obtained to continue with the SkyHawks for the rest of the season ultimately concluding his professional career with the team for the 2013/2014 season. Coming off the bench, Crook placed 14th in the NBL Canadafor steals per game (1.429) and total steals (20), 15th in assists/turnover ratio (2.476), 18th in total assists (52), and 19th in assists per game (3.714). Owner Gus Takkale said, "I am saddened with Jamal's injury not only for the SkyHawks but for himself as an individual. He is a strong-minded player and displayed nothing but professionalism throughout his tenure with us. We spoke at length for him returning to Ottawa after his rehab and we will definitely stay in touch with him."
