Ottawa Renegades News Release

OTTAWA - Ottawa Renegades defensive end Anthony Collier was named the Rogers-CFL Lineman of the Week Tuesday, following a stellar performance against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday, October 21.

In the Week 16 affair at Ivor Wynne Stadium, Collier sacked Tiger-Cats quarterback Kevin Eakin three times. He also recovered a fumble, had two defensive tackles and added a special teams stop.

The second-year Renegade, who came to Ottawa out of Baylor University in 2004, is one of the CFL leaders in sacks (11) and also has 28 tackles for the season. He is second in the league in total sacks, only one behind CFL leader Gavin Walls of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

This is the second time Collier has won the lineman of the week award. He previously was the recipient after a five-sack effort at B.C. in July. The 26-year-old, who measures 6-foot-3 and 255-pounds, had the first of his three sacks in the first half, with the latter two coming after the break.

The Renegades return to action at home on Sat. Oct, 29 when they host the Montreal Alouettes at 3 p.m. Tickets to the Oct. 29 game are available either at the Renegades ticket office (1015 Bank Street), on the Internet (http://www.capitaltickets.ca), by phone (613.599.3267 or 877.788.3267), any Sports Experts location in the Ottawa and Gatineau regions as well as the Corel Centre Box Office in Kanata. The Renegades wrap up the regular season schedule with a home affair against the defending Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts on Saturday, November 5 at 3 p.m.
