Ott Finalizes Coaching Staff, Adds To Roster

The Skyhawks are pleased to announce the additions of Hunter Vick and Richard Morris to the coaching staff for the 2010 season.

Vick attended Faulkner State Community College before transferring to the University of West Florida. He started all 109 games for the UWF Argonauts from 2003-2004, his junior and senior years. After finishing the 2004 season with the Pensacola Pelicans, Vick was picked up by the Tampa Bay Rays' organization in 2005. He played second base, shortstop, third base, and outfield during his three seasons in the Rays' organization, reaching as high as the AA level in 2005.

Morris brings a wealth of baseball experience to the Skyhawks organization. His list of work includes scouting stints with the New York Yankees, the Tampa Bay Rays, and the Atlanta Braves. In 1992, under the tutelage of Morris, the USA Junior National East Team won a gold medal. He has also spent time working with Team One, an elite organization that helps develop and guide young talent.

Ed Ott continues to assemble a championship caliber team for the 2010 Skyhawks season. Sussex recently acquired SS Wilberto Ortiz. In 2006, Wilberto was drafted by the Anaheim Angels. In his first season he played 36 games recording 41 hits, 28 runs, and finishing with a .299 BA for the affiliate Arizona Angels. Over the next 3 seasons Wilberto played for both the affiliated Arkansas Travelers and Rancho Cucamonga Quakes where he continued to put up strong numbers finishing with an on base percentage of .316.

The Skyhawks have also added P Daniel Berlind. Drafted in the 7th round of the 2007 draft by the Minnesota Twins, Berlind made 11 starts for the rookie level Twins with a dominating 2.09 ERA. In 2009, he played for the affiliated Beloit Twins where he recorded 98 strikeouts in 129 innings pitched.

Additional 2010 acquisitions to the Skyhawks roster:

* Kris Sanchez - Sanchez has played for affiliate teams of the Seattle Mariners over the last 3 seasons. In 2008, he finished the year with a .672 slugging percentage and .422 on base percentage while playing in Pulaski.

* Todd Gossage - In 2009, Gossage played in the Pioneer League for the Chicago Whitesox affiliate. He finished with 27 hits and a .308 on base percentage in his 37 games played.

* Justin Dignelli - Dignelli was drafted in 2009 by the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his first season pitching for the affiliate Arizona Dodgers Dignelli recorded 18 strikeouts in 2 starts.
