TULSA - Four Arena Football League players have signed with National Football League practice squads, the League office announced today.
Arizona Rattlers receiver Greg Orton, Jacksonville Sharks receiver John Chiles, San Jose SaberCats defensive tackle Cornell Banks and Spokane Shock defensive lineman Ayanga Okpokowuruk were all added to NFL rosters this week.
Orton (6-3, 205, Purdue) signed with the Denver Broncos, who had brought the receiver into camp in August. He hauled in 120 receptions for 1,588-yards and 37 touchdowns as a member of the Spokane Shock in 2011, before being assigned to Arizona early this offseason.
Chiles (6-2, 215, Texas) signed with the St. Louis Rams practice squad after being assigned to the Jacksonville Sharks in October. He totaled 65 catches for 752-yards and four scores in his four-year college career with the Longhorns.
Banks (6-2, 310, Fresno State) signed with the Cincinnati Bengals after spending time in camp with both the Bengals and Baltimore Ravens. He was a four-year letterman at Fresno State, playing in 48 games and recording 109 tackles, two sacks, six passes defended and one forced fumble in his career with the Bulldogs.
Okpokowuruk (6-4, 255, Duke) signed with the Cleveland Browns practice squad after spending training camp with the New York Giants. He spent two weeks on the Giants' practice squad in 2010 before joining the Shock for the 2011 season, where he recorded eight tackles and one sack in six games of action.
All four players have been placed on the "Other League Exempt" list.
