Rochester, NY - For the third time this season, Ramon Ortiz didn't allow a run during a start. This time the 39 year-old right-hander tossed six innings of shutout ball allowing just four hits, while striking out three to lead the Yankees to a 3-1 victory over the Louisville Bats on Monday night at Frontier Field in Rochester, NY.

In the next at bat, Colin Curtis reached on an error by Bats second baseman Willie Harris setting up runners on first and third with two outs in the inning. With Doug Bernier at the plate, Colin Curtis broke for second and Brandon Laird scored easily on a passed ball that got by Louisville catcher Dioner Navarro, giving the Yankees the 2-0 advantage after four.

The Bats cut the Yankee lead in half when Felix Perez scored from third on a Joey Gathright infield single with one out in the top half of the eighth inning.

Jack Cust provided the Yankees with a big insurance run in the bottom half of the eighth inning. With two outs and nobody on base in the inning, Cust crushed his 13th home run of the year over the left field wall to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead late in the ball game.
