Orlando's Kenny McEntyre named ADT Defensive Player of the Year

NEW YORK – Orlando defensive specialist KENNY MC ENTYRE (5-11, 185, Kansas State) was selected the 2004 ADT Defensive Player of the Year as voted by the AFL head coaches, players, fans and Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA). McEntyre earned First-Team All-Arena honors on June 2. He is the first AFL player to win Defensive Player of the Year honors three times, having won in 2000 and 2001.

McEntyre, in his seventh season, finished the regular season tied for the league lead in interceptions with nine (one returned for a touchdown), which made him the AFL's career leader for interceptions (55). His 85.5 total tackles ranked fourth in the league. The former Cougar added 11 pass break-ups and four fumble recoveries while leading the AFL's first-ranked defense to the No. 6 seed in the playoffs.

Other players receiving votes included: Chicago's JOHN MOYER, Colorado's RASHAD FLOYD, and San Jose's OMARR SMITH.
