Orlando Titans News Release
TITANS MUST REGROUP AFTER UPSET LOSS
After the Titans (4-3) upset 12-10 road loss to Buffalo (3-6) last week, Orlando returns to action this week with a pair of key games. The Titans open the first of back-to-back games when they host the Philadelphia Wings (2-7) at Amway Arena on Friday night (7:35 p.m. ball drop). The team will not get much rest, grabbing a Saturday morning flight to Rochester, where they will play the Knighthawks (5-4) that night. Tickets for Friday's home game are available by calling 407-601-6516 or by visiting the Amway Arena Box Office or all TICKETMASTER outlets. Both games will be broadcast on the Orlando Titans Radio Network (ESPN 1080 AM and WKQI 1240 AM Eustis).
TOO MUCH STEENHUIS, TITANS FALL TO BANDITS
Mark Steenhuis scored six goals and added four assists to account for 10 points as the Buffalo Bandits upset the Orlando Titans on Saturday night. Behind three first quarter goals from Steenhuis, the Bandits jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never trailed. The Titans were down 8-2 at one point, before battling back to make a game of it in the second half. Casey Powell provided the bulk of the Titans offense with five goals and Pat Maddalena added a pair but Orlando could manage just three other goals on the night.
TITANS FALL IN POWER RANKINGS
With the loss, the Orlando Titans fell out of first place in Brian "Shanny" Shanahan's weekly NLL Power Rankings for NLLInsider.com. The Titans were making just their second appearance ever at the number one spot in Shanahan's rankings but dropped to the number two spot after Saturday's loss to Buffalo. After dropping their first two games of the season, defending champion Calgary (5-3) moves into the new number one spot after winning their third straight game and five of their last seven. Parity appears to be the key word this year in the NLL, as seven teams have at least five wins so far and no team has more than six. Eight of the 11 teams sport winning percentages of.556 or better heading into this week's play. In a related note, Shanny's rankings to change again this week as many of the top team's in the league play each other. Key contests include #3 Washington at #1 Calgary; and a newly-energized Buffalo getting cracks at both Toronto and Boston.
PARK STILL OUT
Titans Transition star Jarett Park sat out a third straight game with an injured shoulder. He is still being listed as day-to-day as he continues rehab with team physicians.
