HOME FINALE: The Starz are searching for that elusive first win of 2003 by hosting the Atlanta Xplosion. After this, your Starz go to Detroit next week and then wrap up the campaign against Tampa Bay in St. Petersburg. LAST WEEK: Atlanta defeated Tennessee of the WFL 35-6. Orlando lost to Miami 44-14.

RECAPPING LAST WEEK: Miami 44, Orlando 14; THE GOOD: Christine Shaw had a season-high four catches and scored Orlando's first TD, Lois Thompson played well at running back and some newcomers made the most of their playing time, and Orlando led 6-0 after the first 15 minutes. THE BAD AND THE UGLY: The next 30 minutes when Miami reeled off seven ananswered touchdowns.

MEET COACH MIKE: The Starz' new Head Coach is Mike Vessio. He's a native of the Bronx, New York, and was a standout performer at Mahopac High School, where he earned all Conference and All District awards. He is also the General Manager at Tees & Cues in Maitland. Martino Rosanova, a native of Detroit and a massage therapist, assists Vessio.

CAN WE FIND AN EASIER FOOTBALL LEAGUE TO PLAY IN? LIKE THE BIG EAST? Those lamenting the Starz' dismal record this season need to look at the combined records of the three opponents – Miami, Tampa Bay and Atlanta are a combined 12-4 (.750) – one of the toughest loops in the IWFL.

NOW FOR THE BIG NEWS :

IN THE OFFICE: Orlando Starz CEO Marsha Beatty announced the appointment of Renee Kelley as General Manager. Kelley, a former player and founding member for the WPFL's Orlando Fire, will handle more day-to-day operations as the team grows. "I have complete confidence in Renee's organization and leadership abilities,'' Beatty said. "This will help us get more things accomplished."

AT THE GATE: Free admission to all area girls who played on their high school flag football team this season. Those who do show up =ill get a 50% discount for the Starz 2004 tryouts.

MISS CHARLOTTE UPDATE: To be honest, we gave up tracking all the newspapers and radio stations (it was about 75) running a Charlotte Chambers story after the two-page Sports Illustrated photo page. We did have a nice time at the NFLPA reception and golf tournament this week – Thanks to all who made that. The highlight this week was an appearance on the Orlando Sentinel's Keepin Score on 740 the Team. On 16th she will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live, June 17th she will be on The Best Damn Sports Show Period. Check your local listings for times.

NEXT WEEK: The Starz travel to the Motor City to face the Detroit Blaze in a game that could alter civilization as we know it. Detroit is currently 0-4.
