Orlando Predators Take on Georgia Force Sunday, July 1
June 28, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Orlando Predators News Release
After last week's hard fought loss to the New Orleans VooDoo in The Jungle, the Orlando Predators are travelling to Georgia to face off against the Georgia Force in an American Conference South Division matchup on Sunday, July 1. The Predators captured the first game against the Force in Week Seven in The Jungle, winning, 27-24. The game kicks off at 3:00 p.m. and will be shown live on Brighthouse Sports Network and OrlandoPredators.com/Live.
In their matchup against the Force this week, the Predators are going head-to-head against two of the best wide receivers in the AFL in Larry Shipp and CJ Johnson. Through 17 Weeks, Shipp has 118 receptions, 1379 yards, and 28 touchdowns. Shipp is currently ranked fifth in the AFL in receptions per game. Johnson will be just as tough for the Preds, as he has hauled in 90 passes for 960 yards, and 13 touchdowns. Johnson has also been explosive in the return game, returning three kicks for touchdowns this season. Johnson is currently ranked fourth in kick return average per game and third in the AFL in all purpose yards. The Predators secondary will have to bring all of their fire power to stop these two Georgia wide receivers on offense.
The Predators are facing a Georgia defense that is one of the best in the AFL. Georgia is currently ranked fourth in scoring defense, fourth in passing defense, and sixth in the AFL in total defense. The Predator offense will have to come prepared to play against the Force defense and limit their turnovers to help them capture their first road win.
Two weeks ago, veteran wide receiver T.T. Toliver caught his 750th pass in Orlando's Week 15 matchup against Tampa Bay. Toliver isn't far away from two huge milestones for an AFL wide receiver. Toliver is 81 yards away from 10,000 career receiving yards and five touchdowns away from 200 career touchdown receptions. Toliver is certainly having another productive season with the Preds. Through 17 weeks, Toliver has 78 receptions for 985 yards, and 21 touchdown receptions. He leads the team in receptions, reception yards and touchdown receptions. In their matchup against the VooDoo last week, defensive back Kenny McEntyre recorded his first interception on the season. That interception marked his 97th total regular season interception, leaving him three away from 100. Look for both of these veterans to make an impact in their Week 17 matchup against the Force.
Up next, the Predators return home to The Jungle to take on the Cleveland Gladiators on Friday, July 6. The American Conference South Division matchup will serve as the second game of the season between the two teams. Cleveland won the first matchup in Week Five, 41-24. The 7:30 p.m. game will broadcast live on Brighthouse Sports Network and OrlandoPredators.com/Live.
