ORLANDO - Orlando Predators offensive lineman Chris Jamison and UCF alum Frisner Nelson spent Friday afternoon at Frontline Outreach talking with disadvantaged youths about the importance of reading.
Both Jamison and Nelson stressed the role that reading has in helping young people find success in their lives.
The "Reading Success Program" event took place at the CR Smith Center in West Orlando and was attended by children between the ages of five and 12.
Frontline Outreach is Orlando's oldest outreach program to urban children in Orlando, and has been praised by many community leaders, including former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
Jamison and Nelson signed autographs and spent time playing basketball and football with the kids once the event concluded.
Also helping to reach out to the Central Florida community on Friday were members of the Predators front office staff.
"Part of our mission as an organization is to have an effect on the entire community throughout the year," said Keith Recine, director of game day operations. "Through events like this we are able to provide positive role models for these children, and hopefully the next generation of Preds fans."
