 Orlando City SC News Release
ORLANDO - August 4, 2014 - In an effort to kick-start the upcoming fall season, Central Florida's preeminent youth club Orlando City Youth Soccer (OCYS) held Team Camp last week for all 68 boys and girls OCYS teams. Serving as pre-season training, the Team Camp concluded with club-wide scrimmages and a festive jamboree event on Sunday evening.
"We're extremely excited for another season here at OCYS," said Executive Director Stephen Rammel. "We hope to build on the success we achieved last year and continue to develop local players at the highest level."
Since its inception in 2012, OCYS has quickly established itself as the premier youth club in Central Florida. With direct ties to Orlando City SC, OCYS allows the opportunity for direct access into the professional ranks for local players. Overseen by OCSC Head Coach Adrian Heath, the Club's youth system employs the same style of play that governs the professional team, allowing members to benefit from quality training and development.
In addition to opening an avenue to the professional level, OCYS also places a large emphasis on providing ample preparation for players aspiring to play in college. OCYS is the only club in Central Florida with both the United States Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) and Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) programs. The USSDA and ECNL are the highest and most competitive male and female leagues in the United States, offering maximum exposure to college coaches.
In the 2013 season, over 40 OCYS boys and girls received scholarships to play at universities across the United States.
