Orange County SC Signs Norwegian Defender Morten Bjørshol

Orange County SC today announced the signing of imposing defender Morten Bjørshol.

The 25-year-old native of Oslo, Norway began his career with Las Vegas Lights FC and appeared in 28 matches in 2022. Bjørshol played as both a center back and right back in defense and also appeared sparingly as a holding midfielder. He scored one goal for the club.

Bjørshol is now the third Norwegian signing and fourth Scandinavian signing to join the Black and Orange ranks this off-season.

"It feels exciting to be a part of OCSC," Bjørshol said. "The club, coaches and players have been very welcoming to me and I cannot wait for us to have a great season. I'm always hungry to win games and compete against the very best. I'm excited to play for OC and for another opportunity to prove myself on a new team."

Bjørshol wrapped up his collegiate career in 2021 after playing four seasons for the Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles. He captained the Golden Eagles his senior year and led his squad to the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship. Bjørshol was also named National Men's Player of the Year in 2021 by the United Soccer Coaches organization and finished his career as a 2x First-Team All-American, 2x CCAA Defender of the Year and 3x First-Team All-CCAA.

"Morten had a strong season last year in the USL Championship," OCSC Sporting Director Peter Nugent said. "His athleticism and composure on the ball will be a real asset for us. He will provide strong competition for places in the backline this season."
